Subject-verb agreement is a match between verbs with keywords in terms of numbers, namely: singular (singular) or plural (plural).

Subjects can be noun (noun), pronoun (pronoun), or other construction acting as noun, such as gerund and infinitive. Basically, singular subjects use singular verbs, while plural subjects use plural verbs.

Subject-Verb Agreement (General)

In general, in the present tense form, the singular verb is the base form of the verb with the added ending (s). As for plural verbs without added ending -s (on the contrary, plural subject added ending -s). These verb rules also apply to the subject of third person (eg Ricky, Anna) and all personal pronouns (they, we = plural, he, it = single), except I and you. Although a single subject, I and you are paired with a plural verb (excluding verb "be" (was, am) on "I").

Example Subject-Verb Agreement [subject = bold; Verb = italic]: No. Sample Subject-Verb Agreement 1 The sun rises. (Sunrise.) 2 The stars shine. (Shining star.) 3 Leo rarely eats white bread. (Leo seldom eats white bread.) 4 You go straight ahead then turn left. (You go straight ahead then turn left.)

But if there is a helping verb, then helping the verbs that change while the main verb in the base form (base form verb). The option of helping the verb in its singular-plural form is is-are, does-do, and has-have. Especially for has-haves, the agreement does not apply if the word is a second helping verb or used behind other helping verbs.
